Home Business Income – Affiliate Marketing vs. Network Marketing

Home business income has been on the rise since 2003.  Time Magazine issue May 25, 2009 reported that 40% of the workforce will be independent contractors by the year 2019.  Odesk.com the leader in placing freelancers stated that between 2007 and 2009 freelancing jobs more than quadrupled.

Add to those numbers of home based business, between 34.3 million and 36.6 million households have active home offices (research firm IDC), and these number continue to grow.

As the U.S. economy stubbornly clings to a state of recession, the home based business market continues to rise.  With record levels of unemployment and job uncertainty for those working, the investigation of home business income and start-ups is on the rise.

Two areas of home business income I want to address here are affiliate marketing and network marketing (mlm or multi level marketing).  Both are actually affiliate related, with income commissioned based payout scales.  Let me try to simplify the different terms, then buy amoxil online I’ll break down each in more detail.

Legitimate Home Businesses 6 Myths To Niche Research

When it comes to niche research in legitimate home businesses or opportunities, there are 6 myths that come to mind.  Whether you want to start doing marketing online with a traditional business, begin affiliate marketing or start a network marketing business.  I want to touch on these 6 myths to niche research and help clarify the research process for you.

Myth Number 1: Finding a niche that is right for “you”

- You have a weak website.
- You have weak influence in your marketplace.

This all can lead someone feeling as though it was wasted time, wasted money and feeling there is no such thing as a legitimate home business model.  Or, you start another niche chasing your dream.  Having patience and staying persistent along with consist in your marketing is key.  Finish what you START before taking on another niche.

Myth Number 3: Do What You Are Passionate About

Myth Number 6: Scratch An Itch Myth

This one I like to think of as the “find their pain” or “problem”.  Now, they do exist, however the problem I see in this comes down to this – people do not buy based on what they need (for instance baldness and hair treatments).  People buy based on values not the problem itself.  It’s a value based system, which is why people are willing to pay more for one product than another.

Once people say “yeah, I see value in having or using this”, they will buy.  So, the scratch an itch theory is good, but you need to supply value behind it.  So, drill down in your research, know who you are targeting and that you can make money in your business.  

Present value to that target audience and you will have a very legitimate and successful home business.

Legitimate Home Businesses Require Proper Presentations

Legitimate home business opportunities do exist, there is living proof of it every day.  I know many people who are doing it.  And by doing it, I mean putting in the work, doing the required time and effort every business owner puts into his or her business.  They present themselves and then follow with products or services they can offer someone.

This goes for any legitimate business.  Talk to any local business owner in your town.  They are out networking, marketing themselves with other businesses, within the community and across what is deemed in offline business as “my serviceable area”.

A home business is a legitimate as any local small business.  It’s about connecting and engaging with people that build lasting relationships.  The internet and technology have taking this form of marketing to whole new levels.

It’s a venue where the legitimate home business owners may have actually moved beyond the traditional brick-and-mortar business.  And trust me, this people have worked hard to build a successful business.

For those now, who are not doing some sort of business presentations online, they are losing income.  The facts are simple, if your in business, you must have a website these days.  And two, have it working properly, so it’s attracting people through your door for sales.  Simple business concepts of Marketing leads to Sales.

I am a member of a number of local business groups.  All meet weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.  There is always one business owner who is allowed the 10 minute presentation over the 60 second elevator pitch all the other business owners are allowed.  PowerPoint presentations are a popular way of getting information across to large groups.

As home business owners know, you see them all over the internet.  Where small local business has missed an important point, is getting those presentations online.  I’m amazed at how many of the small local business owners who do not have a website.  Or, they may have one but either that don’t like it or have no idea how to use it.

One of the business owners from one of my groups asked how to make his presentations larger.  You can start by simply changing the slide ratio in your PowerPoint presentation.  I currently use the 2003 version, here’s a short video on how to change the slide ratio.

Home Business Success Requires Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Welcome Back…

Wanted to share some feelings about business and success in general.  Regardless of whether you achieve success in business or personally in life, in order to get where you really want to go, there comes a time or two or three or…. well you get what I mean.    There come’s a time where you absolutely must step outside your comfort zone to get where you need to go.

I was sitting in a web conference this morning talking and listening to Joel Therien and he made a comment about stepping out of your comfort zone.  It really got me thinking about times I’ve had to do it.   Now Joel is the founder and CEO of GVO and to hear him talk about some of his journey.  Well, it just confirmed in my own mind that all business people go through this process.

We allow ourselves to be controlled by our comfort zone too many times.  It could be because of fear, lack of knowledge, lack of skill, confidence, money the list goes on and on.  But, successful people do not let these things stop them.  They step outside of themselves to overcome them!

The key point here is this…. by doing so, they increase their comfort zone.  What was once “uncomfortable” has now become part of their comfort zone.  In business is could be making phone calls, doing a presentation, public speaking, doing something technical (creating a blog or video), closing amoxil clavulin a deal or sale etc.

In our personal life it could be asking for a date.  Imagine what life would be like if you never asked your spouse for a date.  Wait, maybe that’s a bad analogy….. Just kidding, but seriously think about that.  At some point you find yourself getting over any hurdle that may (let me rephrase), that you “think” stands in your way.  “That’s just not me”.

It doesn’t have to be you or how you feel.  What matters is where your going and what does it really generic amoxil take to get you there.  Sometimes it comes down to stepping outside your comfort zone.  In the end when you do, I guarantee, there becomes a better you and most likely a success story right behind it!!

Do yourself a favor, next time you find yourself in the position of saying “I can’t do that” or “that’s not me”, “I don’t feel comfortable doing that”, “I wouldn’t even know how”, “I have no idea” …….

Step outside your comfort zone and DO IT.  Let the success of it be the kick in the butt you need for the next time.  And keep kicking yourself as many times as you need it!!

Podcasting is one of those under-utilized methods of marketing that can be very powerful when it’s done right. What normally happens with marketers is they get all caught-up with video marketing, and they totally ignore podcasting – or so it seems. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have at least three sources to back up every statistic, fact and piece of information that you want to give out. But if you’re stating something that is more of opinion, then be sure to be clear about that. 

It’s critical, moreso when you’re new, to publish your podcasts on a regular schedule. This is imporant because it’s a good habit to build, plus your market will come to look for new podcasts from you. Failing to do this will have the opposite effect, unfortunately. It’s a behavioral aspect, and you want to develop that sense of expectation in your listeners. So just assess your situation and see what kind of schedule you can do. 

Podcasting is still a terrific method for publishing content to your target market.
